Just as seasoning brings out the best in food, so should Christians flavor our world for God. It's in the Bible, Matthew 5:13-14, TLB. "You are the world's seasoning, to make it tolerable. If you lose your flavor, what will happen to the world? …You are the world's light—a city on a hill, glowing in the night for all to see."
Jesus challenged society's norms—He said greatness comes from serving. It's in the Bible, Matthew 23:11-12, TLB. "The more lowly your service to others, the greater you are. To be the greatest, be a servant. But those who think themselves great shall be disappointed and humbled; and those who humble themselves shall be exalted."
Jesus warns us not to follow society. It's in the Bible, I John 2:15-17, NIV. "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the worldthe cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and doescomes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever."
